Branding 101: Healing Harlem Edition
At Apartment 1A, we believe branding is more than logos and taglines—it’s healing, intention, and legacy-building. That ethos came to life in Branding 101: Healing Harlem Edition, a community-centered workshop designed to support, educate, and elevate Harlem’s entrepreneurs.
Curated and led by our Head of House, Dominique Zonyeé, this Apartment 1A production was built for the dreamers and doers of Uptown. We brought together local business owners, vendors, and creative entrepreneurs for a soulful branding experience rooted in clarity, strategy, and wellness.

The Outcome
Branding 101: Healing Harlem Edition provided a space for growth, healing, and empowerment. In partnership with Taino Towers and community leader Ikay Henry, we transformed a Harlem charter school’s community center into a hub for entrepreneurs.
With over 30 attendees, from teens to experienced business owners, we offered hands-on branding support, fostering a strong sense of community. The intimate setting allowed for personalized guidance and real-time discussions.
To enhance the experience, local businesses contributed juice shots, healthy snacks, and candles. We also featured wellness guru Ahimsa Stone, who led a discussion on the emotional challenges faced by multicultural entrepreneurs.
Here’s how our work made a lasting impact:
- Empowered Over 30 Local Founders: Attendees left with clarity, tools, and next steps to build brands rooted in their values and vision.
- Wellness-Centered Learning: Through movement, mindset exercises, and Ahimsa’s workshop, founders were reminded to care for themselves as much as their businesses.
- Strengthened Community Ties: Local Harlem businesses gained exposure through event product donations, creating a circle of mutual support.
- Intergenerational Impact: Entrepreneurs from ages 17 to 70+ came together, exchanging knowledge, resources, and inspiration.
- Continued Momentum: Attendees left connected—not just to their brand vision, but to one another, forming a peer-powered support network.
